So as you can tell from the picture we got some snow. Now from my perspective it was unexpected otherwise I would have had the plow ready for the morning, I may have missed the weather report though too.
We made it to church. We usually attend the first service in the morning. Today we were a couple minutes late due to the snow. I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal since there probably wouldn’t be very many people at church due to the snow. Yep I was wrong! There were more people at the 930 service this morning then there is on a normal Sunday. It was jampacked, but we were still able to get our normal seats.
As church was just starting to get underway. I couldn’t help but look across the sanctuary and see all the people that were there. No matter how bad it was outside people still wanted to be there in church. it reminded me of the scripture from Matthew chapter 16, where Jesus tells his disciples that he will build his church, and not even the gates of Hades, will overcome his church.
I think it’s important for each of us to think about the scripture specifically in our day-to-day lives. That no matter how bad it gets “outside“, that he is still building his church. Whether you’re fighting with the government, the IRS, a family member or close friend no matter what your situation he is still building his church. We are each called to be part of that building process, and that it’s important to remember each day as we proceed to further his kingdom rather than ours.
“On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
